#ewimedReport: Fewer punctures – more quality of life The evaluation of recent years shows an interesting development: 📊 The number of punctures before an IPC implantation is continuously decreasing. Current data: • Pleural effusion: avg. 2.08 punctures • Ascites: avg. 3.03 punctures What does this mean for practice? 👉 IPC systems are being used increasingly earlier in the course of treatment 👉 therapy decisions are being made more proactively 👉 symptom control is moving more strongly into focus This development shows how the care of patients with pleural effusion and ascites is changing – away from repeated interventions toward early, sustainable solutions.
