What is Project Controls – and why does it matter now? The role of project controls continues to evolve, but one thing is clear: it is integral to effective project delivery. Recent discussions within the APM Planning, Monitoring & Control Interest Network, and conversations in the margins at the APM conference, highlighted that we don’t always articulate this role consistently – even within our own profession. That prompted the PMC IN to pause and reflect, resulting in a short article exploring what project controls really means today, how it underpins governance and delivery, and why the relationship between project managers and project controls professionals is so critical.
