Last week, our very own Paul Sutcliffe, together with Rupert Snuggs, Co-Founder of Pineapple CoRE, explored the key blockers holding back #decarbonisation in #RealEstate — and, crucially, how leading asset owners are working to overcome them. Here are some of the main takeaways: ⚡ Decarbonisation in real estate is not a knowledge gap; it is a delivery gap - While more than 80% of entities now have #ESGpolicies in place, #emissions are falling at only a fraction of the pace required. 🚧 Progress continues to be held back by four structural challenges - The performance gap between design and operation, delays in capital allocation, split incentives between landlords and tenants, and regulatory divergence. 📉 Much of the sector’s #CarbonReduction to date has been passive - Driven for example by grid improvements and portfolio churn, with only a limited share resulting from active intervention at asset level. 💰 The financial implications are already significant - #CarbonRisk is being priced into transactions today, with growing evidence of both #BrownDiscounts and #GreenPremiums across markets. 🛠️ Closing the gap now requires a shift from strategy to execution - EVORA’s three-step approach — establishing a baseline, prioritising assets based on risk, and building a costed investment programme — provides a practical route forward. 🎥 If you missed the webinar, you can watch the recording here: https://lnkd.in/eXzyw9_7 Pineapple Partnerships
