🌍 Green hydrogen is still too expensive — Evonik is working to change that. A pilot plant for the newly developed DURAION® membrane has now started up in Marl. The membrane is the core component of AEM electrolysis, a technology that can produce green hydrogen more efficiently, flexibly, and cost effectively than established processes. The facility already manufactures the membrane at commercial scale, sufficient for electrolysis capacities of up to 2.5 gigawatts per year. Together with the new AEM Center Shanghai, Evonik is driving the global industrial adoption of innovative AEM electrolysis technology.
