Innovation often happens where different industries meet. Our Product Development Engineer Nick recently welcomed the Geobrugg team to our EVOC HQ in Munich for a dedicated knowledge transfer on impact and energy absorption. What made this exchange particularly exciting was the combination of two very different worlds: large-scale protection systems designed to safeguard people and infrastructure from natural hazards, and performance-driven protective gear developed for athletes. From the very first discussions in our EVOC Lab, it became clear how much overlap exists when it comes to understanding impact forces, energy absorption, and system behavior under extreme conditions. While Nick shared insights into our product development process, material testing, and simulation approaches, the Geobrugg team brought valuable real-world perspectives on handling massive energy levels and designing systems that perform reliably in harsh environments. It was exactly this exchange between disciplines that sparked new ideas and challenged existing ways of thinking. Because innovation often happens at the intersection of different industries.
