The best place to charge your EV is already where most journeys begin: home. Last week, the NSW Government released its new Home Energy Saver program to help eligible households access the technologies that can lower energy bills, improve home comfort and accelerate the transition to a cleaner, smarter energy system. Through the program, eligible households can access: - Zero-interest loans of up to $15,000 for energy-saving upgrades - Discounts of up to $4,000 for eligible households (available later in 2026) - Support for technologies including rooftop solar, batteries, efficient appliances — and EV charging infrastructure! As more Australians choose electric vehicles, ensuring homes are ready to charge efficiently and affordably will be an important part of the broader electrification journey. Programs like this help address one of the key barriers to household electrification: the upfront cost of making the switch. By supporting access to efficient technologies, we can help more households take control of their energy use while contributing to a more flexible and resilient energy system. The transition to electrified transport is connected to the wider transformation of our homes, energy networks and communities. Initiatives that make this transition more accessible are an important step forward.
