Looking back at this photo, my first thought is: My wife is a much braver person than I am. Not because she married me. But because she willingly helped teach a room full of teenage boys at Hacker English. 😂 I spent most of the class trying to teach English. She spent most of the class trying to keep us all under control. It’s crazy to think these students are all in college now. Back then, I wasn’t just trying to teach English. I wanted to be the teacher I wish I had growing up. Of course I wanted students to improve their English. But even more than that, I wanted them to feel happy, confident, and excited about their future. Looking back, teaching was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. And seeing photos like this makes me wonder where the time went.
