🔍 New Case Report Published in Emerging Infectious Diseases (CDC)🔍 I’m proud to share that our team’s case report—“Syphilitic Aortitis with Concomitant Neurosyphilis in an Asymptomatic Patient”—is now live in the July 2025 issue of Emerging Infectious Diseases. This case highlights: ▪️ A rare manifestation of late-stage syphilis—syphilitic aortitis—in an asymptomatic 89-year-old ▪️ Diagnostic complexity requiring multimodal imaging and serologic + CSF testing ▪️ The importance of considering infectious causes of aortitis, even in patients without classic risk factors ▪️ Broader implications as syphilis rates rise, especially in high-burden regions like Washington, DC ▪️ Emphasizes how cross-disciplinary collaboration can unearth unusual diagnoses Grateful to my brilliant co-authors Quinn Seau, Tyler Geshay, Danny Rayes, MD, Trevor Wyand, Ethan Fraser, Ronald Beaulieu, and PI Justin Beckett, MD, FACP for making this possible. And most importantly, special thanks to our patient for allowing us to share his case. 📄 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eHFkvggA #InfectiousDisease #Syphilis #Aortitis #InternalMedicine #MedicalResearch #Radiology #Neurosyphilis #CaseBasedLearning #PublicHealth #EID #CDC
