What can music research tell us about the world around us? π΅ ERC grantees are working across disciplines to explore how music connects with medicine, physics, urban life and cultural history. For #WorldMusicDay, we highlight four ERC-funded projects that show what this looks like in practice. One applies mathematical modelling to investigate how music may support cardiovascular health; another looks at hip hop culture as a way of producing and sharing knowledge across cities and communities; a third traces links between jazz and quantum physics; and a fourth revives an unfinished opera, bringing a lost 19th-century work back to the stage. π How maths turned music into medicine: https://bit.ly/4tNCjf3 π Street science: https://bit.ly/4bTEt5D π The jazz of physics: https://bit.ly/4dCjGVA π The resurrection of Franz Liszt's unfinished opera Sardanapalo: https://bit.ly/4eY2bBk While music is the common thread, the discoveries of these projects reach far beyond the arts. #MusicResearch King's College London, University College Cork, ICFO, University of Cambridge
