What kind of research and innovation system will Europe need in the next decade? As Europe debates FP10, competitiveness, technological sovereignty and the free movement of knowledge, some of the continent's leading scientific and policy voices will gather in Brussels for the conference "Towards the European Fifth Freedom and Global Competition: Voices from Science." Organised by the ERC and Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina, with the support of national academies from Finland, Cyprus, the Netherlands and Slovakia, the event will explore how Europe can remain a global leader in science, innovation and talent. The programme features contributions from Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, Enrico Letta, ERC President Maria Leptin and Leopoldina’s Predident Bettina Rockenbach as well as Fields Medal winner Maryna Viazovska and many other leading researchers and policymakers from Europe and beyond.
