40 years of lessons learned 🇺🇦🕯️ On this day in 1986, Europe was shaken by the worst nuclear disaster in history. We honour the thousands of lives lost and condemn Russia's continuous attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. A tragedy like Chornobyl must never happen again. That's why nuclear tech has evolved. Around 25% of the EU's electricity now comes from nuclear power plants thanks to strict safety and environmental protection requirements. Using varied non-fossil fuel sources is key to keeping energy prices stable, and nuclear can help 🔋 Parliament has also highlighted the potential of smaller, modular nuclear reactors to provide power to regions where it is otherwise inaccessible.
