Vice-President Ambroise Fayolle and EIB Chief Economist Debora Revoltella discussed the "Recovery as a springboard for change: Germany and the EU", on a panel hosted by DIW Berlin - German Institute for Economic Research, sharing insights from our latest Investment Report ➡️ https://bit.ly/EIBIS2021l “The pandemic has accelerated the digitalisation of German firms and many have already invested to deal with climate change – a good basis, to use the recovery from COVID as a springboard for change”, said EIB-Vice President Ambroise Fayolle. Sharing insights from our latest Investment Report, EIB Chief Economist Debora Revoltella said: 🔹 Germany is on the positive side of climate action and energy efficiency with higher level of investments. 🔹 German firms becoming more digital due to COVID-19, small companies in Germany still lagging behind in their digital transformation journey. Her closing remarks: 👉 Recovery in Germany is under way/gaining strength but mastering structural reform is a key challenge. 👉 Digitalisation and innovation are key: seize momentum to accelerate digitalisation,. Digital skills and regulatory framework are vital. 👉 Global coordination needed for climate transition. Investment in new technologies and climate innovation are needed. 👉 Investments in training & education should be prioritised. 👉 Growth-friendly framework and public investment are important to unlock private investment for the green and digital transformation.
