Islands and coastal communities are strategic assets for the EU. ️🌊   With the European Commission presenting new strategies for islands and coastal communities, it is becoming increasingly clear that these regions deserve a more prominent place in EU policymaking. In our opinion, we underscored that islands should be recognised as frontline and call for: 🏝️ improving connectivity and infrastructure; 🏝️ fostering a sustainable and competitive blue economy; 🏝️ strengthening climate resilience and energy autonomy; 🏝️ actively involving local communities in policymaking.   Our recommendations: link.europa.eu/3ND94K
