Could Montenegro be the next country to join the EU? 🇲🇪🇪🇺    After 14 years of negotiations, we’re closer than ever. Last week, the EU took a historic step by approving a working group to begin drafting Montenegro's Treaty of Accession.    This is the first time such a step has been taken since Croatia's accession in 2013.    Here's where the process stands 👇  → 14 of 33 chapters provisionally closed  → Finalising and approving the accession treaty  → Signature and ratification by all 27 EU Member States  → Montenegro is aiming for membership by 2028    Montenegro is the country closest to becoming an EU member, and we remain fully committed to its European future.    #EuropeanUnion
