Europe is the world’s fastest-warming continent. In 2025, 95% of Europe saw above-average temperatures. Our continent is warming over twice as fast as the global average. We’ve seen record heatwaves from the Mediterranean to the Arctic, while glaciers have been shrinking and snow cover melting. Along with many other regions around the world, record heatwaves, devastating wildfires, and continuing biodiversity loss are having dramatic consequences for our societies and ecosystems. According to the latest European State of the Climate Report: 🏔️ Glaciers across Europe saw a net mass loss while snow cover was 31% below average 🌊 The annual sea surface temperature for Europe was the highest on record 🔥 Wildfires burned the largest area on record, at around 1,034,550 hectares 💧 Annual river flow was below average in 70% of rivers ⛈️ Storms and flooding affected thousands across Europe, although extreme rainfall and flooding were less widespread than in recent years The evidence is unequivocal: climate change is not a ‘future’ threat.
