"I chose Europe because of the excellent research environment and a general sense of responsibility to society."     Meet Serge Belongie, an American AI scientist now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. As Director of the Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence and President of ELLIS - the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems - he is at the frontier of AI research in Europe.     His Visipedia project now powers iNaturalist and Merlin Bird ID, connecting millions of citizen scientists with global biodiversity researchers and generating data that helps tackle climate change.     In Europe, Serge found the research freedom, funding ecosystem and sense of collective responsibility to society that drives his scientific vision.      #ChooseEurope
