Russian mercenaries torched their own base in northern Mali on Sunday and left under escort by Tuareg rebels. The rebels are the same ones Mali blamed on Ukraine in 2024, when Bamako broke with Kyiv to align with Russia. The Wagner Group took that city for the junta in 2023.
