The European Commission recently announced a new study on ultra-processed foods (#UPFs). Meanwhile, a new Lancet study today shows that food policies such as nutrition labels and advertising restrictions can reduce child obesity. These initiatives add to a wealth of evidence on the impact of UPFs and potential interventions. It is time to build on that evidence to create an EU-wide strategy that reshapes the food environment, reducing the availability of UPFs while making healthy food the logical choice. We joined 20 organisations in a joint letter to European Commissioners, urging swift action.
