“In the end, energy solidarity isn’t just about warmth, it’s about power. And when women are able to take part, to speak up, or to support one another, that power begins to shift.” Cold homes and rising bills quickly give way to something less visible but more enduring - exhaustion, isolation, and a lack of voice. The Women in Solidarity for Energy (WISE) responds not with instruction, but with space. Conversations before solutions. Listening before intervention. Grounded in solidarity. Across Bulgaria, energy poverty is being addressed not only as an infrastructure issue, but as something that shapes health, dignity and everyday life. Through the WISE initiative, women are building local hubs of support, developing practical tools, and turning vulnerability into agency. Their work shows how energy solidarity strengthens resilience, health, and wellbeing. Milena Stateva, PhD, who leads the WISE project, shares her experience. https://lnkd.in/gBJ9G5Fh Want to explore the links between housing, energy poverty, gender inequality and health?
