A new diagnostic system has arrived at JT-60SA in Naka, Japan 🇯🇵 The Divertor Vacuum Ultra Violet spectrometer will help researchers monitor plasma impurities and study the divertor — the region where hot plasma meets the surrounding structures. The system is the result of a multi-year European collaboration, with contributions from Forschungszentrum Jülich, ICSI Romania, IPPLM Poland, Consorzio RFX, and ENEA Frascati. After final assembly and acceptance testing in Italy, installation is now underway at JT-60SA. The diagnostic is expected to see its first plasma light during operation phase 2. This is an important step for studying power exhaust and plasma detachment — key topics for future fusion devices such as ITER and DEMO. https://lnkd.in/dwq54EFp #FusionEnergy #EUROfusion #JT60SA #PlasmaPhysics #FusionEngineering #ScientificCollaboration #Road2Fusion #EURATOM
