💡Placing circularity at the heart of Europe’s industrial strategy is essential for the Clean Industrial Deal to succeed. Gerrit van Veen, Managing Director of De Vries Recycling B.V. explains why recycling must move from ambition to implementation. 🔹From a recycler’s perspective, valuable materials are still being lost every day, even though the technologies and expertise to recover them already exist. For Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), solutions are proven and operational: EPS can be collected, sorted and recycled at scale, and transformed into high-quality raw material for new insulation and packaging products. 🔹 This approach delivers multiple benefits. It saves resources and energy, reduces reliance on virgin raw materials and strengthens Europe’s industrial resilience. However, scaling circularity across Europe requires the right framework conditions. 🔹 The contribution underlines the need for predictable regulation that recognises the role of recycling, as well as practical measures to strengthen collection and sorting systems in all Member States.
