Welcome to our 1996 Office: bigger monitors, smaller team, and enough paperwork to qualify as cardio. In that year, we started receiving the first EU trade marks applications… and as you can see, we changed quite a bit… but not just us. 🔹 CTM (Community trade mark) was what we know today as EUTM (EU trade mark). Same European ambition, stronger identity. 🔹OHIM (Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal market) was the name of our EU Agency. Today, EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). A wider IP role and mandate. 🔹Paper-heavy left room to digital-by-default services and filing today. 🔹Only trade marks…and today we are the EU Agency responsible for managing the EU trade marks, EU designs (EUDs), geographical indications (GIs) for craft and industrial products at EU level, the European and international cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP), as well as a lot of work on Copyright. 🔹From just protection (30 years ago) to enabler of competitiveness and business growth today. Bigger teams, new skills and new ways of working.. but the same purpose: helping businesses, the economy and competitiveness in the EU for the benefit of the many. https://lnkd.in/ednvZ2XH
