For the first time in years, I was able to purchase a pair of sunglasses… with no prescription necessary. This is just one of the many benefits I’m now enjoying, thanks to my successful treatment for presbyopia late last year. The time had come. Focusing on close objects was getting more difficult, but this was a condition I knew I didn’t have to accept. With a clear understanding of the science behind laser vision correction for presbyopia, I had zero reservations going in for the procedure; I was actually excited to go through the experience. The improvement to my vision was immediate in my everyday life, and I look forward to enjoying my life’s passions, like deep water sailing, with crisp, clear vision, and no glasses. Recently, I had my return checkup with the surgeon, who not only developed but also performed the ZEISS PRESBYOND procedure for me, Professor Dan Reinstein. The examination and testing data indicated a highly successful outcome for my vision which now enables me to see continuously from close through intermediate to far ranges, with no side effects whatsoever. My night vision is excellent. My contrast sensitivity is excellent. Beyond my improved vision, however, what interests me most is how data was used to tailor my treatment. It’s part of the ambitious journey toward standardized, optimized and truly personalized healthcare. Worldwide, the presbyopic population is large and growing, and a multinational study shows that by age 55, roughly 80% of people will suffer vision impairment due to presbyopia. ZEISS PRESBYOND is positioned to tackle one of the biggest causes of visual impairment worldwide – the burden of presbyopia. See my attached Linked In article to learn more.
