At Discovery 2026, Rahul Sethi represented Ethnicity Matters in a timely conversation on the social media, gaming, and betting behaviours of young Canadians aged 18–24. His presentation focused on the digital context surrounding young adults today: heavier social media use, more frequent gaming, greater exposure to reward-based mechanics, and increasing overlap between entertainment and betting environments. As part of the panel discussion, Rahul also highlighted the need for a more ethnocultural lens in how we understand risk and prevention. Young adults are not a monolith. Cultural norms, language, family dynamics, stigma, and community context can all influence how digital habits develop, how gambling-related risk is understood, and whether support feels relevant or accessible. Prevention messaging is stronger when it is culturally informed, rather than assuming the same message will resonate equally across communities. Thank you to the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) for convening such an important discussion on harm prevention, digital well-being, and evidence-based action. #Discovery2026 #ResponsibleGambling #SaferGambling #HarmPrevention #PlayerProtection #DigitalWellbeing #YouthWellbeing #Gaming #SportsBetting #GamblingResearch #EthnicityMatters
