Corporate Enforcement in the UK: A Discussion with the SFO's Chief Investigator The UK's corporate crime framework has changed materially over the past two years. The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act has broadened corporate liability, the failure to prevent fraud offence is now in force, and the Serious Fraud Office's 2026–27 business plan signals a more targeted, intelligence-led approach to enforcement. To explore what these developments mean in practice, we are pleased to host a Chatham House Rule discussion with Michael Leo Gallagher, Chief Investigator at the Serious Fraud Office (UK), on 30 June in London. As Chief Investigator, Mick has strategic oversight of all SFO investigations and leads multidisciplinary teams of investigators, lawyers, forensic accountants, and technical specialists responsible for investigating some of the UK's most serious and complex economic crime matters. Discussion topics will include: • Current SFO enforcement priorities and practical signals from the 2026–27 business plan • The failure to prevent fraud offence and the expanded senior manager attribution test • What "reasonable" and "adequate" procedures look like in practice and how programme effectiveness is being assessed • Escalation, investigation, and the role of feedback loops in demonstrating a mature compliance programme • Third-party risk, cross-border cooperation, and the Five Eyes corruption indicators 📅 Tuesday, 30 June 2026 🕒 10:30am–12:30pm, followed by lunch 📍 The Bentley Hotel, London This session is designed for a small group of Chief Compliance Officers, Heads of Compliance, and other senior in-house compliance leaders. Places are limited. Request an invitation: https://bit.ly/4xrqI8Q #Compliance #AntiCorruption #CorporateCompliance #EconomicCrime #FraudPrevention #SFO
