“what kind of urban environment is being constructed when order is prioritized over organic vitality?” These very pertinent reflections by Edgar Gonzalez ✪ also reminded me the book ‘Smooth City’ by René Boer in which he address the quest of contemporary cities for “the perfect condition” of public space, when the “‘urban’ no longer means raw, dystopian, or conflictive but ‘perfect’, shiny, and happy”—whatever those concepts mean for politicians and urban planners.
