SCOPE MATCH Does your estimate match the drawing set you are actually bidding on? Revision clouds and addenda are the #1 source of scope misalignment. ā 2. PRICING DATE When was the material pricing confirmed? Anything older than 30 days in today's market is a risk you're carrying. ā 3. EXCLUSIONS DOCUMENTED Every assumption you made should be an explicit exclusion. If it's not written, it's included ā in the client's mind. ā 4. SUBCONTRACTOR COVERAGE Do you have actual sub quotes for your major scopes, or are you carrying allowances? Know the difference before you sign. ā 5. CONTINGENCY STRATEGY Named contingency = you control the narrative. No contingency = you absorb every unknown silently. This checklist alone will prevent 80% of post-award budget problems.
