This week, one of our Sales Engineers, Ilja Tromer, joined Milko van den Berg during the commissioning of a newly integrated Octopus battery system. Usually, she works on the digital side of projects: system layouts, integration details and technical configurations. But being on board again showed exactly why the last phase before delivery matters so much. Accessibility, space limitations and other practical installation details are some of the things you only truly experience when visiting the vessel itself. It brings another perspective to the digital design of the system and shows the many considerations that need to be taken into account. Another reason why it's important to keep the lines of communication open and stay in touch with different colleagues, so that we can learn from each other's experiences. Since the system is not simply โ€œfinishedโ€ when production is completed. A project is only truly delivered once the commissioning process and harbour and sea trials have been successfully completed. That final phase is where engineering, integration and real-world operation come together. And every visit on board helps us build even better systems for future projects. Because maritime battery systems are not built for a computer screen.
