Unlocking 900MW of Renewable Energy for South Africa South Africa’s clean energy journey reached an important milestone today with the official handover of the Vunumoya Main Transmission Station (MTS) by Seriti Green to Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd and the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA). This R1 billion, 18-month infrastructure project is now fully energised, operational, and successfully integrated into the national grid. The station enables the first 155MW of wind energy from Seriti Green’s Ummbila Emoyeni One Wind Energy Facility to flow into the grid ahead of schedule, marking the beginning of a 900MW renewable energy rollout that will help position Mpumalanga as a growing clean energy hub. Equipped with advanced 400kV and 132kV infrastructure and a 500MVA transformer, the Vunumoya MTS has been designed ready for future expansion. Originally scheduled for March 2026, the first phase has been accelerated to deliver energy from 28 November 2025, supporting Seriti Resources’ decarbonisation goals and contributing to South Africa’s energy transition.
