Eskom Power System Update | 3 July 2026 ✅ Stable and reliable electricity supply maintained despite increased winter demand. Eskom continues to benefit from its Generation Recovery Plan, delivering improved generation performance and operational reliability.  📈 Energy Availability Factor (EAF) reached 64.29% year-to-date, up from 58.54% during the same period last year—an improvement of 5.75 percentage points.  ⚡ Unplanned outages decreased significantly to 9,850MW, compared to 14,981MW in the same period last year, reflecting ongoing improvements across the generation fleet.  💰 Diesel expenditure reduced by 84.65%, with year-to-date spending of R746 million compared to R4.86 billion last year. No diesel was used during the reporting week.  🏆 413 consecutive days without loadshedding since 16 May 2025, demonstrating sustained system stability.  🔌 Load Reduction Eradication Programme progress: 1.1 million customers removed from load reduction schedules. 65% of the programme target achieved. Load reduction fully eliminated in five provinces. Eskom remains on track for elimination in seven provinces by October 2026 and nationally by 2027 .  📊 Additional highlights: 544 feeders removed from load reduction, representing 56% of the targeted 971 feeders. 1.86 million smart meters deployed nationwide. 571,589 customers now registered for Free Basic Electricity (FBE), an 18% increase from the baseline.
