Meet Zach Matthews, BESS Site Manager at ESB Generation Trading. Zach manages 3 of ESB's battery energy storage system (BESS) sites, Poolbeg, South Wall, and Kylemore. These large-scale batteries store electricity when demand is low and release it back to the grid when demand is higher, helping to maintain a stable electricity supply. In his role, Zach oversees day-to-day operations, monitoring performance, coordinating maintenance, and ensuring each site is operating safely, reliably, and ready to respond when needed.
