A fantastic week at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology! I was honoured to receive the Research Excellence Award. As part of this recognition, I was invited to give a presentation following the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology Annual Lecture, delivered by Prof. Uwe Wolfrum (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz). I had the opportunity to share my postdoctoral research carried out at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine under the mentorship of Thomas V Johnson. This work was recently published in Science Translational Medicine as: β€œThe internal limiting basement membrane inhibits functional engraftment of transplanted human retinal ganglion cells in vivo.” A huge thank you to the organisers, judges, and everyone who took the time to engage with my research throughout the day. It was a privilege to be part of such an inspiring event and to celebrate the outstanding work taking place across our vision research community. I am also deeply grateful to my mentors, collaborators, co-authors, and all my colleagues who have supported me throughout this journey. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of many people, and I feel fortunate to work alongside such an inspiring community. #UCL #InstituteOfOphthalmology #VisionResearch #Ophthalmology #Postdoc #Research #Glaucoma #AcademicResearch #JHU #WilmerInstitute
