We are delighted to share that yesterday, EREF Director Prof. Dr. Dörte Fouquet participated in an Erneuerbare Energie Österreich (EEÖ) event organised in cooperation with the Johannes Kepler Universität Linz (JKU) Faculty of Law, the JKU Institute for Environmental Law, and Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Bergthaler. The event focused on the implementation of the RED III. Discussions were centred on RED III's potential to become a milestone in advancing the energy transition across Europe. The event brought together key experts in energy law & policy to identify the current state of implementation of the Directive at the Federal, State, and EU levels. A shared theme throughout the discussions was the urgent need for harmonised and effective implementation to reach our EU-climate and renewable energy targets. Among the other prominent speakers in the session were Frank Sailer, Maria Deutinger, Florian Stangl, Celin Gutschi, and Maximilian Riedel. In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Dörte Fouquet highlighted the importance of strongly embedding principles such as overriding public interest, renewable acceleration areas, and one-stop shops into national frameworks, and provided real examples from Member States, sharing best practices. These tools will be key to accelerating the energy transition. #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #REDIIIimplementation
