🇵🇱 The European Commission's 2026 Country Recommendation sends a clear message: Poland's future competitiveness will depend less on the pace of growth and more on the quality of its innovation ecosystem. Poland has continued to strengthen its R&D performance, yet innovation outcomes remain below the EU average. The Commission points to weak science-business cooperation, limited commercialisation of research, insufficient incentives for researchers to engage with industry, and challenges in scaling innovative companies. What stands out is the strong emphasis on ecosystem building. The recommendations focus on strengthening technology transfer, creating investment-ready innovation pipelines, supporting start-ups and scale-ups, modernising research institutions, increasing SME digitalisation and reducing regional innovation disparities, particularly in eastern Poland.
