This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the people who keep our operations safe — and those that shape a more diverse future for our industry. When Rebecca joined Equinor, she brought more than a decade of operational experience in blowout preventers (BOPs) — the safety-critical backbone of well control. Today, she verifies and audits BOPs across fixed installations and drilling rigs, ensuring compliance and safe operations. In a discipline long dominated by men, she experienced something new: being trusted with real responsibility from day one – and having female leadership further up the line. “You can't choose what you can't see,” says Kristina Helland-Hansen, vice president of the Drilling & Well competence center. Since 2024, our Drilling & Well operations have focused efforts to support women who wish to develop in operational roles. This work continues — because diversity strengthens both our expertise and our future wells. Rebecca’s advice: Be a sponge. Stay curious. And if someone doubts you, put on your “Teflon helmet” and let it bounce off.
