Right now, a large tunnel is being built between Meland and Hyggevatn in Hammerfest. It will be 3.2 kilometres long and has a cross section of almost 40 square metres. It’s not made for ordinary road traffic, but for power cables that will supply Hammerfest LNG with electricity. The Snøhvit Future project consists of compression that extends the life of the plant and electrification that cuts emissions. The project will enable us to preserve jobs, value creation and gas exports to Europe beyond 2050 – and to cut CO2 emissions by 850,000 tonnes annually – important contribution to meeting Norway’s commitments in the Paris agreement. During the construction phase, the project employs close to 2000 man-years in the north, including at the construction contractor LNS AS from Andøya. They are responsible for building the tunnel and landfall. 👉 Find out more about the project at the link in the comments ⬇️
