One of the greatest strengths of the Equine Care Group is the ability to share knowledge and experience across borders. This week, Dr Tom Mariën had the privilege of operating at @saladoequine_medicalcenter (SEMC) in Texas together with Dr. John Janicek, head surgeon at Salado. They performed an OCD surgery involving fragments located at the back of the fetlock joint. Bringing together more than 30 years of surgical experience from each side created a unique opportunity to exchange techniques, discuss different approaches, and refine our skills together. What makes these moments truly special is not only the collaboration between experienced surgeons, but also the opportunity to pass this knowledge on to the next generation of equine veterinarians. Watching younger colleagues learn from real-life cases, discussions, and shared expertise is incredibly rewarding. This is exactly why Tom founded Equine Care Group: to connect leading equine hospitals and specialists around the world, creating an environment where knowledge, innovation, and experience can flow freely across oceans and continents. Because when great minds work together, everyone benefits: the veterinarian, the profession, and most importantly, the horse. A sincere thank you to Dr. John Janicek and the entire team at Salado Equine Medical Center for their warm welcome, collaboration, and commitment to excellence.
