Too often, these voices are missing from the conversations that shape the policies meant to protect them. This event puts survivors where they belong: at the centre. Hosted by Caterina Chinnici MEP, Co-Chair of the Child Rights Intergroup, and organised together with International Justice Mission, we will hear directly from those with lived experience - including Mark Neil from the Philippine Survivor Network - alongside experts and policymakers working on the frontlines of this fight. At a decisive moment in EU negotiations on child safety legislation, their voices are not just important; they are essential. Survivors do not only remind us what is at stake; they show us where systems fail, and what meaningful protection must look like in practice. With contributions from Magnus Brunner, EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, and F. Javier Zarzalejos Nieto MEP, Chair of the LIBE Committee and Rapporteur on the proposed EU regulation to prevent and combat child sexual abuse, the discussion will connect lived experience with policy responsibility. We will also look at what the data tells us, the realities on the ground, and the gaps that still allow abuse to persist - from emerging threats like live-streaming to the challenges of implementing effective and privacy-conscious solutions.
