The Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield adopted today its final report. The EPP Group is calling for stronger action to shield European democracies from foreign interference, disinformation, and hybrid threats.  “Foreign information manipulation, disinformation and hybrid interference are becoming increasingly sophisticated and coordinated. Russia remains the primary threat to Europe’s democratic integrity, and no Member State can counter it effectively on its own,” said EPP Vice-Chair Tomas Tobé, who drafted the report of the Special Committee. “We call for a concrete reform agenda centred on stronger operational capabilities, greater accountability and enhanced preparedness”, Tobé explained.  The report puts forward a wide range of ambitious reforms and draws on dozens of hearings and discussions with experts held by the committee since the beginning of its mandate in 2024. 🔴 Watch the press conference: https://epp.group/8h6mk7fw 🔗 Read more: https://epp.group/0tvl3mab
