On Wednesday, EPIC Counsel Kara Williams testified in support of a Delaware bill that would expand essential privacy protections for state residents. The bill would amend the Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act in several key ways: • expanding the law’s coverage by lowering its applicability threshold; • narrowing an overbroad exemption for financial institutions; • adding enhanced protections for sensitive data; • giving consumers additional rights if entities use their data to profile them as part of a consequential decision; and more. EPIC urges the Senate to pass this important legislation.
