EPI-USE introduces the Payroll World Games, a data-driven global ranking of payroll complexity. EPI-USE recently launched the Payroll World Games, a research initiative that compares payroll complexity across jurisdictions using a data-driven methodology developed by payroll specialists working in tandem with generative AI. Inspired by the way competitive chess rankings are calculated, the study evaluates almost 10,000 head-to-head comparisons across ten dimensions of payroll complexity. The methodology draws on Payroll GPS, EPI-USE's global payroll compliance platform, which consolidates country-, industry-, and company-specific payroll guidance into a single authoritative source of payroll information. Rather than assigning countries a single subjective ranking, the Payroll World Games objectively depicts payroll complexity across multiple dimensions. The findings demonstrate that jurisdictions may rank highly in one area while being comparatively straightforward in another, providing organizations with a more usable view of regional payroll complexity. The Payroll World Games methodology was developed by Jan van Rensburg, a Managing Director in the worldwide firm, with research support from Zsófia Láng, Global Payroll Transformation Lead, and Hans Dewulf, also a Managing Director. The rankings are available at worldgames.payrollgps.com. For more information, please contact [email protected].
