In March 2026 EODC were very proud and excited to learn that the “Expert Flood Monitoring Alliance 2025+” consortium led by EODC had been selected to continue the operation and evolution of the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗚𝗙𝗠) system for the 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗦), which is implemented by the European Commission Joint Research Centre. GFM provides continuous monitoring of floods worldwide by immediately processing and analysing all incoming Copernicus Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite data. Together with the flood monitoring experts at Geo Department at TU Wien, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V., Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), and quality assurance experts at GeoVille Information Systems and Data Processing GmbH, we look forward to the continued provision and evolution of this NRT flood monitoring service for the next 6 years. On 17th June 2026, the consortium kicked off the first year of work hosted at the 𝐉𝐑𝐂 𝐈𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐛 and we are already focusing our work on the delivery of next evolution of the GFM service in May 2027.
