Houston’s Fifth Ward is rich in history, culture and resilience. But for years, residents have lived alongside heavy industry, facing unknown health risks from the polluted air around them. With support from local leaders and partners like Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice and EDF, that’s changing. New air monitors will provide critical data on pollution in Fifth Ward and Pleasantville, marking an essential step toward advancing transparency and protecting public health in some of the most polluted communities. As the U.S. rolls back lifesaving federal protections, this victory is what progress looks like: Communities using data to drive change where it’s needed most. https://lnkd.in/e9AHfkJz
