Australia has endorsed the new global “35% electrification by 2035” target ahead of COP31. Australia has spent the last decade focused on how to generate clean electricity. The next decade may be defined by where - and how - that electricity is used. Backed by IEA and IRENA analysis, the target aims to nearly double electricity’s share of final energy demand from around 20% today to 35% by 2035. The focus is clear: shifting transport, buildings, and industrial processes onto clean power.
