Oslomej showed that former coal mines can become the foundation of a new clean energy future. RWE and PPC have commissioned nearly 1 GW of solar capacity on the former Amyntaio lignite mine in Northern Greece, transforming one of the country's historic coal regions into a renewable energy hub. The project demonstrates that the energy transition is not only about replacing coal with solar. It is about repurposing existing infrastructure, attracting private investment, creating new economic opportunities and giving former mining regions a new purpose.
