🎓 Upcoming Thesis Defence by Mike Robin Zäch🎓 TITLE: Modelling and optimization of wide-voltage range converters operating in incomplete zero-voltage switching 📅 Date: July 1, 2026 🕙 Time: 13:00-16:00 📍 Location: Pontoppidanstræde 111, 9220 Aalborg East - Room 1.177 / Online participation available. Join us for the PhD defense of Mike Robin Zäch, who will be presenting his research on “Modelling and optimization of wide-voltage range converters operating in incomplete zero-voltage switching” 🎉 🔋 As electric vehicle battery voltages move from 400 V to 800 V and beyond, converters must ensure high efficiency across a wide operating range. This work focuses on improving accuracy in modelling and optimization of zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and incomplete ZVS (iZVS). 📌 The thesis presents: · Detailed modelling of ZVS conditions including device non-linearities and component interactions · Quantification of losses in iZVS using a novel compensated power sensor · Multi-objective optimization balancing switching and conduction losses · Design of a four-phase current-fed push-pull converter for high efficiency The results show that improved ZVS modelling and inclusion of iZVS effects enable more accurate loss prediction and better converter design. High efficiency is achieved through optimal control and component sizing across operating conditions. Overall, the thesis contributes to more efficient and reliable converters for future fast charging systems ⚡ More information about the PhD defence 👉 https://lnkd.in/exezWU4m Supervisor: · Professor Stig Munk Nielsen, Aalborg University, Denmark Co-supervisor: · Associate Professor Szymon Bęczkowski, Aalborg University, Denmark · Associate Professor Asger Bjørn Jørgensen, Aalborg University, Denmark Assessment Committee: · Associate professor Subham Sahoo (Chair), Aalborg University, Denmark · Associate professor Kasper Paach, University of Southern Denmark · Professor Dariusz Zielinski, Lublin University of Technology, Poland Moderator: · Associate professor Tamas Kerekes, Aalborg University, Denmark
