🎓 Upcoming Thesis Defence by Jacob Bollerslev 🎓 TITLE: Framework for Automated System-Level Small-Signal Stability Risk Assessment in Wind-Powered Energy Island Systems 📅 Date: September 16, 2026 🕙 Time: 13:00-16:00 📍 Location: Pontoppidanstræde 101, 9220 Aalborg East - Room 1.001 / Online participation available. Join us for the PhD defense of Jacob Bollerslev, who will be presenting his research on “Framework for Automated System-Level Small-Signal Stability Risk Assessment in Wind-Powered Energy Island Systems” 🎉 ⚡ Energy islands rely heavily on converter‑based resources such as wind power plants and high-voltage direct-current links, operating over wide and multidimensional operating‑point ranges. Assessing stability under these conditions is challenging for TSOs, especially when only black‑box models are available due to IP restrictions. 📌 This thesis proposes a systematic and automated framework for small‑signal stability risk and root‑cause assessment, including: · Small‑signal stability analysis under weak‑grid conditions with grid‑following and grid‑forming converters · Identification of stability boundaries separating stable and unstable operating regions · An automated eigenvalue‑based method for efficient stability risk assessment · A computationally efficient approach, reducing analysis time by more than 97,3 % · A collaborative framework enabling TSO, OEM and PO assessment while respecting IP rights Overall, the thesis supports reliable operation and efficient collaboration in future converter‑dominated energy‑island power systems.
