🎓 Upcoming Thesis Defence by Federico Mattera🎓 TITLE: Green fuels from biogas using high-efficiency Power-to-X 📅 Date: June 29, 2026 🕙 Time: 13:00-16:00 📍 Location: Pontoppidanstræde 105, 9220 Aalborg East - Room 4.127 / Online participation available. Join us for the PhD defense of Federico Mattera, who will be presenting his research on “Green fuels from biogas using high-efficiency Power-to-X” 🎉 🔋 This PhD research addresses the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by enabling efficient energy storage and production of green fuels through Power-to-X technologies. The work focuses on solid oxide cells for syngas production via co-electrolysis, including a novel AC:DC operation to control high-temperature electrochemical processes. 📌 The thesis presents: ·      Theoretical and experimental analysis of AC:DC-assisted co-electrolysis in solid oxide cells ·      Demonstration of improved temperature stability and increased CO₂ conversion ·      Experimental validation of stable syngas production ·      Analysis of reversible Power-to-X system operation ·      Integration with biogas systems to improve overall efficiency The results show that AC:DC operation enhances syngas quality and system performance, while integration with biogas enables efficient, co-localized production of fuels and energy. Overall, the thesis highlights the potential of solid oxide cells to support grid stability and significantly reduce emissions through efficient production of green fuels ⚡ More information about the PhD defence 👉 https://lnkd.in/exQhGH_d Supervisor: ·      Associate Professor Vincenzo L., Aalborg University, Denmark Co-supervisor:  ·      Professor Mads Pagh Nielsen, Aalborg University, Denmark ·      Professor @Søren Højgaard Jensen, Aalborg University, Denmark Assessment Committee:  ·      Associate Professor Daniel Stroe (Chair), Aalborg University, Denmark ·      Srikanth Santhanam, Senior Process Development Engineer, Shell, Bengaluru, India ·      Professor Vincenzo Esposito, DTU Energy, Technical University of Denmark Moderator: ·      Associate professor Thomas Condra, Aalborg University, Denmark
