How can we scale CO2-removal technologies to support global climate goals? 🌍 🎓PHD DEFENCE BY ALBERT PUJOL DURAN🎓 We’re excited to invite you to the PhD defense of Albert Pujol Duran, who will present his dissertation: “Technical, economic, and environmental modelling of direct air capture implementation scenarios” on April 21, 2026! 🎉 Direct Air Capture (DAC) is often highlighted as a key technology for achieving negative emissions, but high costs and limited demand still hold back large-scale deployment. This PhD project develops an integrated technical, economic, and environmental framework to explore how DAC can be scaled in the real world. 📌 The research focuses on three main areas: · Integrating DAC into existing industrial plants through process intensification · Evaluating high-value applications for captured CO₂ · Coupling DAC systems with wind power curtailment 📅 Date: April 21, 2026 🕒 Time: 13:00-16:00 📍 Location: Pontoppidanstræde 101, 9220 Aalborg East – Room 1.001 / Online participation available. Supervisor: - Professor, Thomas Helmer Pedersen, Aalborg University, Denmark Assessment Committee: - Associate Professor, Karl Sperling (Chair), Aalborg University, Denmark - Professor, Phil Renforth, Heriot-Watt University, UK - Professor, Niklas von der Assen, RWTH Aachen University, GE Moderator: - Associate Professor, Saqib Toor, PhD, Aalborg University, Denmark Further information and link to participate online 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/ebxxqqbj
