Energy sector leaders in both the private and public sector must be ready to step out of their comfort zone and set “big, hairy, audacious goals" - only by being bold and ambitious can we bring down the GHG emissions much faster and ensure a more competitive and secure energy system in Europe, so we can compete with China, the U.S., and the rest of the world 🚀🎯 This is the message from Ditlev Engel, CEO of Energy Systems at DNV, where he leads a global team of 6.150 energy experts - and this approach also applies to researchers and industry representatives alike. “It is not the case that Chinese people or people in the U.S. are smarter than we are. But often, they think bigger and are more dedicated and ambitious in the implementation. We need to change that to prevail,” he says. Ditlev Engel is one of this year’s keynote speakers at AAU Energy Research Day, where he will also share his views on the future of the energy system and the need for accelerated digitalization, system integration, and AI. Even though these elements are, according to Engel, still widely underestimated and underappreciated, the outlook is remarkably promising: “In 2050, there is a good chance that you and I will consume half the energy we use today – without shrinking GDP – because digital and AI‑sustained system interconnection and energy efficiency will go through the roof. Electrification of our societies is a very robust trend.” Join us at AAU Energy Research Day 2026, where Ditlev Engel will share more of his insights into the future of the energy system. Other keynote speakers include CEO Per Fenger, Professor Tejs Vegge, and Professor Stig Munk Nielsen. 👉 Read more and sign up: https://lnkd.in/ex4JBaJ6 👉 Read the full interview with CEO Ditlev Engel: https://lnkd.in/e3hyUzQU #AAUEnergyResearchDay #AIEnergy #Energytransition
